I completed tertiary and post graduate studies in Australia and several other countries. I have travelled and lived in a number of countries, affording me a broad cultural perspective and many opportunities for learning and friendship.

Over the last 44 years I have worked both within Australia and overseas in multiple fields. These include commercial, academic / research, not for profit and health.

Throughout the years I have sat on and / or advised multiple Committees and Boards of both public and private institutions within Australia and elsewhere across wide-ranging areas of interests and activities.

I enjoy learning from others and sharing what knowledge and experience I have with individuals and organisations as I am able and when asked either in a general, professional or mentoring capacity.

When time allows, I have a wide range of cultural, social and sporting interests.

I regard myself as open minded and constantly learning. I believe that sharing knowledge and friendship is a great responsibility and privilege.

Karin Cheung

My passion for service marketing can be traced back to my pre-professional days.  Whether as a member of my high school performance team, or part of the leadership team at a sea scout group. I have been on a service marketing path from the start.   The reason? I like getting people excited about the things I am excited about.   Right now, that’s Asian Australian Business Council (AABC).

Outside of the office, I am committed to education.  I am a trained radio presenter and a public relations officer, and am always looking to brush up my public speaking skills over coffee or drinks. If you challenge me to Australian business trivia, my Team will win.

I am currently trying my hand at (very amateur) video editing.  I live the sweaty life and will probably “market” you to join me for a fashion styling class or a charity run.  Connect with me over Linkedin for networking or business opportunities, and more!

His work was responsible for the initiation and sale of Mintech’s premier resource Razorback Ridge Iron Project to Royal Resources for $30million with a second option agreement for its leases to the north and south of Razorback Ridge for another $10million.

In September 2009 after leaving Mintech Resources P/L upon the successfully completion of the Razorback Ridge sale, Mr Hillam founded Wentworth Metal Group (WMG). Mr Hillam is the CEO and a director at WMG whose aim is become a major iron-ore producing company whose main focus is in the Olary region of SA.

australian metals group ltd

In  2010 Mr Hillam was instrumental in founding Australian Metals Group Limited which holds approx. 4000 square kilometre of prospective IOCG tenements in the Woomera Defence Green Zone mainly in the area northeast of Tarcoola SA and nearby to the Indian Pacific Railway.

AMG purchased four leases from Dominion Gold NL one of which surrounds the Western Plain Resources Giffen Iron Project and contain considerable extensions of this resource. Currently AMG holds 471 million tonnes Inferred Mineral Resources (JORC) of magnetite iron ore which grades 32% iron in Bulgunnia Project which is next to Giffen Well.

Highlights of the Bulgunnia Project are:

  • The integrated project will consist of an open pit iron ore mine and concentrator at Giffen Well, an open pit coal mine and power station at Penrhyn that will supply low cost energy to the iron ore operation, development of local services and infrastructure, construction of a rail spur line that will connect to the Central Australian line near the Carnes siding, and the construction of rail receivable, storage and out-loading facilities on the Company’s land at Port Pirie.
  • The project is underpinned by a total resource estimate of 689 million tonnes at an average grade of 30.9% Fe, with 62% of the resource tonnage estimate classified as Indicated. Metallurgical test work has delivered excellent recoveries, with approximately 40% DTR mass recoveries and DTR concentrate grades of up to 68.5% Fe.
  • Thirteen million tonnes per annum of magnetite iron could be mined to produce 5mta Fe concentrate with low levels of impurities. A haematite concentrate will also be produced in early years while the oxide zone is mined.
  • AMG leases contain areas which have extensions that run for three times the length on the same anomaly as Giffen Well.
  • All infrastructure, railway line, railway siding, water pipeline and power to Giffen Well pass through AMG leases and are next to AMG iron ore horizons.
  • AMG is an unlisted Public company.

PRMSE eXPLORATION technology

In 2010 -11 Mr Hillam was the first to use the PRMSE technology from Ukraine at a number of its projects in Australia which was able to remotely define several new Iron ore sites and ore bodies in the Olary region. These have the potential to contain 5 – 10 billion tonnes of magnetite. This information is held privately.

olary iron pty limited

In 2011 Mr Hillam founded Olary Iron Pty Limited (OIL) to facilitate a farm-in agreement with Polymetals Mining Limited and Exco Resources Limited where OIL has earned a 80% interest (potential to reach 100% interest). Olary Iron tenement boundary and target horizons are within 2 kms of the Indian Pacific Railway and as such are the closest Braemar Iron opportunity to the extensive railway infrastructure and port at Port Pirie.

Olary Iron is currently undertaking addition drilling program with the aim to prove that a resource of 1.5bt to a JORC standard with 15-45% Fe where the overall exploration target is 4.2- 6.5 Billion tonnes of 15-45% Fe.

Highlights of Olary Iron are:

  • An exploration target of 4.2 to 6.5 Bt at 15 to 45% Fe defined for EL 4199.
  • Aeromagnetic modelling has defined numerous new drilling targets for follow-up.
  • Strike length of magnetic anomaly in EL 4199 is 51.1km in total.
  • Cornish Hill Project estimates 900 Mt at 15% to 45% Fe.
  • Macdonald Hill Project 1-9 estimates 4,200 Mt at 15 to 45% Fe.
  • This work was later suspended due to a collapse of the iron ore price in 2013/14 however it is being revisited in 2019/20 after the price has stabilized.
  • November 2018 Olary Iron is in negotiations with Exco / Polymetals to purchase EL 4199

Australian tailings group pty limited (Iron Ore)

In 2011 Mr Hillam founded Australian Tailings Group Pty Limited and has steered the company through its establishment phase of exploration and development under cooperation with Wentworth Metals Group (WMG).

Iron Ore Project

ATG has identified a 5 million tonne iron sand deposit which is capable of being inexpensively recovered as 65% Fe product in several large creek systems that exists within WMG leases.

ATG intended to commence its highly profitable iron sands mining opportunities in Olary Region of South Australia in 2015. Capital raising at this stage has been restricted to director’s funds and various seed investors in Australia who are assisting the Company to meet all the requirements of compliance to date and bringing it to the point of public listing however additional capital is currently required.

Highlights of ATG opportunity are:

  • The works and physical inspection to date allow us to conclude there is excellent potential to develop a major sand mining operation by removing the sand from the large dry creek bed which exist in EL 4566 Area C, process them and return the processed sand back to the creek bed without any detrimental effect to the environment.
  • The Management of ATG completed exploration by bulk sampling in the joint venture area and establish a production process and plant with an initial capacity of 300 m3 (1,000 tonnes) per hour. An iron ore grade of between 5% – 20% Fe per cubic metre of material process is a realistic input expectation from this plant. The output of 50 -200 tonnes per hour of 65% Fe is a realistic expectation from this plant in order to generate 100,000 tonnes of product in the first 6 months so that ATG can undertake a full smelting trial.
  • ATG process plant does not require water. It is a dry process for separating magnetite from these sands
  • The grade of 5-20% Fe per m3 is the base grade for the financial calculations relating to the plant. This production target will be accompanied by an ongoing exploration programme to seek and develop further resources within the concession area.
  • ATG iron sands project will generate a positive cash flow in excess of $100m pa.
  • A decline in the iron ore price has placed this project on hold.
